Okie dokie. I’m keeping myself accountable. Two days in… I have to keep momentum.
Today I designed and made two new cards for my Momma. She’s a realtor (and a darn good one, at that) and she spends a lot of time searching for cards to go with closing gifts for her clients. We talked a while back about me making some custom cards for her, and last night she gave me another little nudge. So I made her some today and took them to her at dinner. She loved them. Mission accomplished!
Speaking of dinner… Hubby and I were both raised in the Greater KC area, and when he got a job we moved out to Topeka, KS. Now, we are die hard Mizzou fans, and we live half way between KU and KSU. This probably doesn’t mean ANYTHING to anyone outside of Missouri or Kansas, but to us it’s a big deal. So, that being said, Lawrence, KS (where KU is) is half way between our home town and where we live now. Sooo… we met up with my parents and grandparents for pizza tonight at Wheat State Pizza. We have met there before, and OMG. Their pizza is just so yummy. We LOVE it. Anyway, like I said, we’re all Mizzou folk… and this is home of the jayhawk (WTH is a jayhawk anyway?!?!). So, we walk in, and my grandpa is wearing his Mizzou hoodie and hat. The owner is standing at the counter and he says to my 80-something grandpa “you’re going to have to take those things to the car, sir.” Always the joke. Always a good giggle. We teased for a bit, talked about MU leaving the Big 12 and how the restaurant would have to change their pennants representing all the teams, blah, blah, blah… and then we ate a ton of pizza and talked for about two hours. Then right before we left, that same owner got out his ladder and climbed to the ceiling, took down the old-school Missouri pennant, and brought it to my grandpa. He joked that he was the only person in the world that could possibly want it and went back to work. It made my grandpa’s day. I’m sure he tells that story a million times tomorrow. And it made my day to know that there are still kind-hearted people… even if they happen to be “jayhawks.”
